Discover the world of the Rhine valley’s marshlands. The Dornbirner Ache river meanders in numerous loops through the marsh. The idyllic Jannersee lake nestles gently into the Lauteracher Ried landscape conservation area. The route here takes cyclists past extensive meadows, fields and stands of birch and oak trees. The Bruggerloch, a former quarry lake, offers bathing fun for the whole family. Reinvigorated cyclists may continue along the route near Lustenau further into the Alter Rhein recreational area that boasts beautiful floodplain forests, walking paths and natural bathing areas.
From the Rhine bridge between Fußach and Hard, the cycle path leads through the Harder Ried to the Jannersee lake. From there, the route continues past the Sportanlage Ried (Sports Complex) towards Dornbirner Ried. The cycle path then passes through the Birken Schwarzer Zeug nature reserve.Once through the Dornbirner Ried, the path exits the Dornbirn Süd roundabout and heads towards Lustenau. First, through the Natura 2000 Gsieg area and then through the Natura 2000 Obere Mähder. The route then continues along the Alter Rhein (Old Rhine) through the Alter Rhein Nature Park. The cycle path takes cyclists back downstream along the Rhine to the Rhine bridge, the starting point of the tour.
